I'm going on a backpacking trip soon and have heard there can be legendary amounts of mosquitoes in this area.

Has anyone done a deep dive on low toxicity mosquito solutions?

Quinine.

Eat garlic cloves.

Citronella , oil of lemon and eucalyptus all work to varying degrees.

Pack a headnet and pray, I love hiking but try not to hike in the summer bc bugs

haven't tested myself but saw this in twitter recently

Head covering and very light long pants and shirts were my move fishing up in Canada in the summers.

Nothing beats DEET 😄

A little DEET does the body good

Long sleeves, pants & hat. Light fabrics for the summer

I’ve tried a lot of the natural repellents containing citronella etc. tbh, none work that well. So maybe a combo of natural sprays and light longer sleeves/pants. And reapply the spray often.

Cover up - light colors. They love dark colors.

My favorite strategy: stay indoors

Deet. Rest are jokes pretending to be solutions but don’t really work.

Garlic is no joke. Stand back from my mouth when you see me comin!

when we know it's gonna be bad, we go for deet. unfortunately there is not an alternative that is nearly as effective.

Strip naked and lie down somewhere for a few hours. Once you have recovered you will be immune to the bites for a few months.

Mosquitoes love me. The best repellent I’ve ever used was-one part pure vanilla extract, one part catnip extract, and a dash of cinnamon oil in a spray bottle with isopropyl alcohol and water shake and spray. Works like a charm every time! It is magic and it smells good.

Young living eucalyptus oil.
