i was rather disturbed about nostr:npub1wmr34t36fy03m8hvgl96zl3znndyzyaqhwmwdtshwmtkg03fetaqhjg240's idea for blocking on nostr, the idea that all clients would collectively censor users out of some supposed 'code of honor' is just disgusting, a typical woke perversion of words too
Listening to nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn and nostr:npub1wmr34t36fy03m8hvgl96zl3znndyzyaqhwmwdtshwmtkg03fetaqhjg240 talk about nsecBunker and onboarding UX.
I fully agree with @rabble about the possibility of exploring custodial keys for a more GA audience set of users who are not used to keys, browser extensions, etc.
One of the onboarding experiences I’ll be exploring in the new Highlighter (which I think we’ll onboard a whole new set of people to nostr) is the idea of allowing them to login with email and password, something they are already widely familiar with, explaining very clearly the trade offs, and using the password to encrypt theiR nsec on the nsecBunker.
Discussion
I don’t think we’re going to agree, but yes, I would like relays to not serve content to users who have been muted by the creator. I don’t think we’re going to get relay developers to adopt that, but I’d like it to be an option and for relays to state whether or not they do it. That way you could choose to put your content on relays that would server your content to people you muted, and I could choose to use different relays.
This isn’t my highest priority but it’d be nice to have. I think censorship is taking content off the internet. What I’m saying is that I’d like to be able to kick out to my house the drunk asshole who’s shitting on my living room carpet. :-D
He can be drunk and shit in his own living room all he wants.
Thankyou for your long and detailed response!
We are not going to agree
Your analogy is completely wrong
What you are saying is you are an author you publish books, your books are sold everywhere, also in libraries, and people have your books, infact some millions of copies may have been sold
You want anyone with a copy of your books not to give a copy of your books to anyone you dont desire, and that list of people may change at any moment based on your desires
I would posit also you would probably like any copy of your books destroyed should you also desire
Now might you be a god i dont see a problem with that position but otherwise its fundamentally deluded
Thats enough channeling Jordan Peterson for me lol
