Retention of all users, 30 days after signup. The zap has to play a bigger role. The like button will take Nostr nowhere. Like button is a shitcoin with zero value proposition whatsoever. Zaps create real value and this is how we will keep users engaged on the platform.
I think discoverability, search, and content variety play a big part in it too. Zaps are an awesome feature, but they only take you so far if the rest of the experience doesn’t meet expectations.
Agreed, i was just trying to compare it to the like button. By looking at these numbers, i think it’s pretty obvious at this point that this worthless dopamine button is useless

Is there a correlation between user retention and zap count (instances of zaps, not amount of sats) to like count ratio?

I created my nsec long ago, went through that graph short term, but after that it started slowly going the other direction (back up). Can take years though.
Nostr's main differentiators are decentralization, permissionlessness and censorship resistance. Zaps are a cool feature that increases the interaction spectrum. The like button needs to stay. It's part of that spectrum. It doesn't compete.
