Can you predict what steps out of their playbook are likely to come next? But it shouldn't be something generic like "building roads".

Words describing something bad does not mean they should be applied to all that is bad.

People call others "nazi", "fascist", "racist" and have no clue that these were once perfect descriptions for a certain kind of people in certain scenario's, not just to smear anyone.

"Nazi" is derived from National Socialist in German. Did you have a socialist goverment? Do you have one now? Does it make any sense to use the word nazi out of context other than to say a bad word to smear someone and ignore the people who actually suffered from or are still nazi (Ukraine Asov Brigade?)

First of all, I just want to say that I really appreciate your posts – they are eye-opening and deeply important. Thank you for continuing to share them.

I’m currently reading Elisabeth, ein Hitlermädchen, a book written in 1937, and it’s chilling to see how people – especially young ones – were manipulated into accepting and even loving the Nazi ideology. The propaganda, the emotional conditioning, the promise of belonging and greatness… It’s all laid out so clearly, and disturbingly, in that text.

So when I see what’s happening today – the normalization of authoritarian thinking, the targeting of marginalized groups, the weaponization of language and data – it honestly feels like history echoing itself. No, Trump isn’t Hitler, but the methods are frighteningly familiar. And brushing off these comparisons just because they’re uncomfortable is exactly what allows history to repeat.

The US does what benefits the US and has a dark past.

And the American book 'The Passing of the Great Race' was a great inspiration to him and he refered to this book as his bible.

Not part of any politically correct version of US history, but part of history nevertheless for those not automatically assuming the US to be on the (Hollywood) side of the good ones (and rarely ever is once you find that they lost all wars after WWII and also never declared war after WWII)

Until they do something more upsetting than what we experienced for that four years I'm not going to be upset. For the record ... I don't think the government should have most of the data it has but people are willing to give up data to apps all of the time.

Some of the things happening are fixes to the same problems Germany faced; just a shitty ineffective milquetoast version of them. They are lip service to the right wing (a pressure release). Conservatives don't actually conserve anything; they just drag their feet.

If Trump actually wanted to fix shit and be a dictator, he would declare martial law and purge Democrats as traitors and exile all illegals under threat of execution. As a cherry on top, he can enact a general corporal punishment and execute all repeat felons and violent criminals. He would then collapse the Fed and issue a sovereign currency.

Journos are less trusted people in the US than used car salesmen because they apparently have a chronic ability to embellish and exaggerate their claims in a way that is not only contrary to what a trustworthy person would do, but an insult to any intelligent reader.

FYI the last Pew Research count of the part of the population that expressed significant positive trust in journalists and the media in general was ~13%, a historic low.

Making farfetched nazi comparisons won't help that at all, but journos are seemingly unreachable in their ivory towers at this point, and they'll rather crash into the ground thsn change their bad ways.
