Worst thing to happen to the health of the forests, EVER. Smokey the bear is part of why we have such massive fires today. Fire is an essential part of a healthy forest and removing it completely with nothing to replace it, well that's why we are where we are.

I’ve been researching local tribe food production. People would be surprised how much fire was involved. The intentional burning of fields and some forest areas happened every year.
