In Japan, anyways, they take a big pay cut from English teacher for a teensy weensy bit higher social status. Though, last I heard, English teachers are making 2 hour commute and instant ramen 3 nights a week wages. There's too many trust fund kids willing to work for peanuts for "the experience" 🙄
