Just click in "Auto", in the translation message, and hit disable.
I see that a lot of people didn't like this feature but I believe you raised the bar with it Less friction I think.
Now people are asking an option to re-enable it.. :)
is there a opt to switch it back, or could there be a button for manually translating with every note?
Can you provide more context on when that feature will be needed? Certain languages?
What I don't want to do is to segregate communities based on language. Clicking translate adds a friction element that, over time, creates language bubbles like Twitter has today, where you rarely see any other language but yours.

My favourite client so far but slow as hell UI wise.
Hum.. can you give more details? Slow to start, to scroll? After a long use? The app should be quite snappy in most phones by now.
You could try going into your android settings menu -> apps -> Amethyst -> storage and clear the app's cache. This cache can be over 1 gb at times. Also make sure you have the latest android OS.
Is there a way to decrease the time Amethyst needs to load data such as user names, avatars and timeline position? I'm thinking maybe something can be done locally via caching?

How long is it taking for you?
Some information loads fast, but for some users the information can take up to a few (4, 5?) seconds to load. I assume that is due to differences in the quality of relays? That is why I thought maybe it helps to just locally cache the most-used information (username, avatar, perhaps the last few notes) related to the pubkeys that a user follows? Not sure if it is possible and what the implications are though (I'm not a dev)
The timeline comment is partially related. Sometimes my app opens and is stuck on the timeline position, after which force-closing it only appears to work, but then it reloads everything and forgets the timeline position. On some other occasions (forgot the exact trigger) the app also jumps to the latest notes for me. Not the end of the world, but a more stable experience with this would be beneficial.

Of course 2 seconds after posting that the app hangs. I went to your Profile, hit Follow and it stopped working. Frozen.
Yep, that's probably the follower count that takes forever to finish. It's supposed to stop if you leave the profile but otherwise will hang from time to time because there is too much data coming.

You might be referring to the same bug I am trying to fix. It just doesn't show, but if you go back and click the post again to see the thread it appears. I am not sure why some messages do not trigger the redrawing of the screen.
Ok. I see some now. Also, last night I saw a comment I wanted to respond to, but had left the thread. It took several attempts of reloading the thread before that comment showed again.
Is it maybe timing out thread retrieval on other relays? I would think it caches them, but wasn't sure.
