Any suggestions for a secure/encrypted text editor? Or some sort of encrypted container? (on Ubuntu)

Use-case: I want to make notes that are encrypted at rest on my computer. Ideally it would be encrypted in memory/swap etc. too but that's probably asking too much. Basically I don't want to have to decrypt/encrypt manually each time and don't want to run the risk of leaving non-encrypted versions lying around.

Vim

I never thought of that! I am a vim user... Hahaha. Sigh.

It's built in. No plugin needed

After you mentioned it, I googled and saw so. Had no idea. TIL

Thanks!

And by "googled" I actually just meant "searched." Bad habit. never touch google

Sadly can't zap you

No need. I can walk for 20 min and find a quarter 😀

I'll make sure to leave some around every here and there for people like you to find :)

If you are on an AMD machine, make sure you enable SME. That well cover memory in use.
