Taking a shot at #grafting Asian #pear scion wood today. I’m trying on a few different pear cultivars. A native pear, Bartlett, and a Keifer. This is a learning exp for me as I’ve never attempted before. It may be too early in the season for sap to be flowing but I wanted to give it a shot anyways. #foodforest #grownostr #fruittrees #homesteading

I've grafted apple trees before. I got about 50/50 success rate with ~10 grafts. I hope the pears do well for you!

I’d be happy if any of them took. I had to prune the Asian pear bare root I planted so didn’t want to waste all the pruned cuttings. You think the electrical tape can double as grafting tape?

Cool! Over the last couple years I’ve been grafting various edible European and Asian scions onto the “invasive” Bradford pear trees that have sprung up all over.
