The reality is this ... those people who think the decline of American-led rules-based order is going to usher in an era of peace, because you've convinced yourself that the military industrial complex is the chief antagonist in what would otherwise be a more peaceful world ... well, you may very well be about to feast on prodigious meal of rude awakenings.

What makes you so sure?

Well, it's an empirical question at the end of the day. I'll either be right or I'll be wrong. I think a lot of people are hopelessly naive and wandering astray in the fog of misleading vividness. But that's just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

Maybe nostr:npub18myhrpdny5d58elt4skhyqfrm2shawekgzu8jetug8jypkhlhzts4hqm0g is asking what evidence makes you say that?

Also, kind of pessimistic to say "a lot of people are hopelessly naive and wandering astray in the fog of misleading vividness." Good imagery use though - sounds pretty or magical πŸ€™

Lots of word to make little sense.

What doesn't make sense?

It makes perfect sense.

I agree. For one we need to stop dehumanizing the other so much. And I don’t know if we can do that without a more widely shared set of values and ethics

Yes. The military industrial complex is a worldwide organism anyway...

Let it implode and, if we're lucky, we'll have a relatively short period of global peace.

If I were to nit pick, I'd emphasize that, primarily due to and through the internet, perspectives have been shaped this way and "those people who think" may very well not be thinking enough. Frantz Fanon would be proud "......,because you've been convinced that the military industrial complex is the chief antagonist....."

😳

When you've been kicking the hornets nest for so long, that you're the only one in a position to sorta keep some of the hornets at bay, people will continue accepting prolonged kicking.

Who said anything about "peace"?

The decline is inevitable. What comes next is going to happen whether we like it or not.

Piss off with this straw-man.

At the core of it seems to be that US became ~self sustainable because of shale oil, so it no longer needs to maintain stability in the middle east. At the same time middle east is all sorts of broken since WW2 (and before) often thanks to western world creating arbitrary borders and playing chess there. Add on top that global north has been extracting value from global south (north frames it as "aid", but the flow of value is towards north...) and the news start to make sense...

better batteries and the arabs can go broke, fuck them all, so sick of it
