I'll be blunt, I hate advertising. It's pushing something into my face that I might or might not want to see, in the hopes that it will get my attention and dig into my brain deep enough that I might want to spend real money on it. The creativity that goes into some of the ads is fun, the first time. But the three hundred thousandth time I see the add I want to take everything related to that advertiser and drop it into a pit of lava.
If I don't like something, or if I'm not in the market for something, I don't want to see it. At least I don't want it shoved into my face every 15 minutes whether I like it or not. If I am in the market for something, I want to be able to search for my options, see what REAL PEOPLE say about the various choices, and then make my choice. Then it needs to go away.
What I see building on the Nostr network is something completely different. It's the Appreciation Model. If I like what someone has created and I can confirm that they are the creator of what I like, I can send them zaps to thank them for putting something in front of me that I appreciate.
So if the journey leads us down a new path where we pay for content we like and don't see the content we don't want to see, I'll be happy.
