> There are degrees everywhere. I'm not saying that I support the right to repair laws, all laws have horrible unintended consequences. I am saying that the companies who sued to fight right to repair laws sent a message about how they feel about their customers. That message was fuck the customer.
Yeah I forgot about that part, my bad! I agree with you. I just don't want to fight internally.
> Android isn't perfect but I run GrapheneOS not the stock OS and I sideload instead of using the app store.
I have followed you long enough to assume this! My issue specifically with this is that it requires me to support Google directly or indirectly, and in my eyes they are no different. Their goal is to extract as much money from me as possible.
> The truth is, I'm not even mad at the manufacturers. They are businesses trying to maximize profit. As long as consumers buy disposable junk that is most profitable. The problem is the consumers who don't demand repairability when they purchase. So I'm more mad at my neighbor with a John Deere mower than the company.
Yeah that's a hard one. I want people to care and take personal responsibility as well, but I also can't blame my neighbor for not reading the insider news 24/7 to see how the next company is scamming them blind. I mean i fucking swear, every time I sit down and tell someone I can't access X because they blocked my IP and their response be "who cares what are they going to do with my location, it's not useful to them"
They simply don't know all of the 1000000 directions they are getting screwed and I can't be upset since I activly subscribe to or live in these privacy topics. It's a way of life and I don't expect everyone to be this involved. Do I want more yeah, and I agree the consumer should be demanding these rights, but it's not a symmetric and the walls are closing in around consumers imo.
