Agreed.

I'm trying not to judge people's reason for their comfort. For some it's genuine, for others they may be scared or haven't felt it worth the bother idk. I have family members that will probably die without leaving the handful of states they grew up in. Those same people have lived in the same 2 square miles their whole life, including the generations before them. The flip side, is there is often a pressure to "see things before you die" not a genuine interest in travel. Idk I'm not a touristy person, I enjoy seeing those things but I'm like, yeah that's neat, back to work. On my second trip, I lived in Alaska for a couple months and honestly never really traveled past 60 miles outside of anchorage. Just didn't interest me, I was enjoying my time working. But I also never grew up around those who had an interest in travel or seeing things.

Interesting! I don’t feel that everyone has to “see the world”. And I (clearly) love my home immensely. But in my heart I crave seeing different lands.

XD. Funny enough, when I was up there, it was "working on trucks" sort of. Still a computer guy, but I was up there to work in the shop for a bit.

It's pretty everywhere, didn't feel like I needed to go anywhere, just look around you know. A moose in your window in the morning, to the left a mountain, to your right the sea. East was the city up on the coast, north was another town. Just being there on the porch was an adventure enough I guess.

Looking back, sure I wish I did more things but I was much younger, had girl problems and was traveling alone XD

I can always go back, but I've been fighting the $1200 plane tickets.

Oh I get that! Was doing long distance with only a satellite phone I could use weekly. I was young too - had to beg myself to go exploring on my own. It was a formative part of my willingness to be out with little supports.

Now, just a comment… $1200 would get ya over to explore things over in Newfoundland. 😆

No kidding. I wonder what difference in distances is? That price is also with 2-3 connections and usually a layover. Every time i've gone, with time change and delays, it's taken me over 20 hours to get back home XD. It's rough.

It's fun to go on a trip, by I'm always happy to be back home. I've visited 7 province, 1 territory and 2 states.

I was raised on the prairie, and I'm always relieved to return after visiting the mountains or heavily forested areas. Too much stuff sticking out of the ground, blocking my view. I feel the same way about large cities with sky scrapers, etc.

I love the Prairies - our barrens here are like mini prairies. The long views feel like freedom incarnate. I can only imagine being outside of that environment feeling claustrophobic.

I would like to visit the East Coast, the only provinces I've never been. I've got relatives in Sackville, NB. Someday I'll get out there.

Haha, I'll bet it is 😂 They used to regularly visit the farm in SK every few years, bring fresh lobster and we'd have a huge surf and turf BBQ family reunion. The East coasters knew how to party! 🍖🦞🍻

I'm in Alberta, so I know a lot of Newfoundland folks. I think AB is a popular destination for work. Back in my rigging days it seemed like half my co-workers 😂

Yeah. My friends don't like to go anywhere so if I want to see things I have to go alone. I'm a big fan of US rural areas. I've always lived close the Appalachians over here... nothing is flat... I've come to dislike it quite a bit compared to mostly flat or rolling out in the midwest or down south.

I was raised in Saskatchewan, a very flat province, in an area that is called "The Flats" by locals 😂 The family farm was 3 sq miles, with a height variation of about 3 meters over the whole area, so at least we had one hill. It's the bottom of an ancient riverbed from when the glaciers melted, incredibly flat, but also great fertile land.
