Today is a monumental day for me.

I’ll begin the carving process in earnest on this block of orange honeycomb calcite.

This private commission marks my largest undertaking so far.

Feel free to drop any questions, and look out for progress updates.

Time to get dusty!

Did you get new tools to manage the job?

No not yet. My current tools will work. I could get bigger cutting blades but then the risk of mistakes goes up too so no real need.

Pretty cool!

Update: I’ve upgraded my dust extractor and just ordered a 9 inch angle grinder and a 9 inch diamond cutting wheel…

Artist patronage is amazing, giving them capital to buy the tools that will serve them a lifetime.

Eh yes. But I’m still working with a sub optimal setup. If I ever get the funds I need to design my studio from the ground up… there are a lot of tools and equipment on the “nice to have list.” I’d love to have a water wall for dust collection. But they cost like $20k😂

Gotta earn such fancy equipment though. Profitability is a very useful metric of scalability, your small customer base doesn't justify the expensive tools yet, but with more practice, patience and endurance comes more customers, more revenue, and more profit to fund the next round of tools.

Can't wait to see where you'll be at in a couple havings, keep it up bro!

Exactly. I’m in the process of scaling up. This is my biggest sculpture and commission so far. But if all goes well, it’ll lead to the next step. And I’ll use that water wall as a goal… thanks for the sats and the encouragement!🫡

So fucking cool! Can't wait to watch the progress 🤘

LOOKS GREAT AND YOU HAVENT EVEN STARTED ON IT YET

-> that is based on your proof of work for your previous projects.

That’s gonna be gorgeous 🧡

Looking great Brekkie! Enjoy the carving 🤙💜

LFG

That’s Parmesan.
