One thing I never see from the youtube "prepper" community is an emphasis on having your own tools.

Being able to build and fix things yourself is one of the most important life skills to have. Basic power, woodworking, plumbing and electrical tools along with books and general knowledge on those subjects will pay unbelievable dividends.

After growing up on a working farm that made barely enough money to get by most years, it's hard to emphasize how important basic DIY/fix-it skills are.

So true. And sadly most people are not able to fix anything anymore, because they were not taught, and they dont see the need.

Until they do. Then its to late

The more you have in knack, the less you have to pack.

In recent years the importance of tools has really also affected my willingness to lend them. I have one friend who is ex military who is the only person I can safely lend something to without having to beg for it back weeks later or be disappointed by damage or poor condition of return when it comes back. Yes I will give away a tool. Or buy it for someone if I am flush with cash. But lending? No more. I have never lent a single piece of gear, whether camping or tool related or otherwise that didn’t ultimately test the relationship and call into question the individual’s respect for our relationship, except for with this one, solid dude.

When you buy nice. You don't want to buy twice!!

Tools are an extension of you. And i wouldn't lend my hand out unless Im the one using it 🤭

Agree. My tools stay with me.

HODL those tools boys...
