what lightning wallets is everyone using for sending/receiving #zaps in #nostr?
I want to get my Dad hooked up, but I’m much i’m more reticent about suggesting WoS with the recent spate of arguments for and against custodial/non-custodial, especially for someone who hasn’t gotten acquainted with #bitcoin yet, let alone #lightning ⚡️

Alby for receiving since they give you a lnurl. Blixt or Zeus for sending. I'd recommend wos or alby for newcomers, then gradually show them more options
can you zap someone with Alby?
I don’t see it in the list of default wallets in damus zap settings
Probably not in Damus since alby is a browser extension. Best to use Phoenix, Blixt or any other lightning wallet to zap. I use Albys lnurl to receive

WoS is absolutely okay for a total beginner.
The way I think of it is, how many Bitcoin users who started in the past five years started on a non-custodial platform with their own node and seed phrase? Very few. But how many of them started custodially and learned quickly? Probably most!
Get him interested, set him up, and have him play with it for a few days. Then, schedule a self-custody training sesh for a week or two later. That way, he’ll be accustomed to invoices and payments, sat-denominations, and he’ll probably have come up with some of his own questions along the way.

Agree with those saying WoS is a good one. The reason is it is super easy to use, easy to understand, fast, and bullet proof. But it is the bitcoin version of a prepaid credit card. Do not put more on it than you are willing to lose.
For the self custody wallet take a look at Breez. ALMOST as easy to use... a little bit of patience needed to sync, but also a good wallet.
for self-custody lightning I use phoenix - first used Muun, then Breez…
