Not a bad way to give friends or kids btc…kept off line til they ready for self custody with their own cold wallet device

How do they get the Bitcoin off it?

I bought a couple and haven’t used them yet…also it’s been over a year since I read up on them (so take this with a grain of salt) but if I’m not mistaken they’re basically external storage that plugs into a usb port. A utxo is uploaded on to them. the signed utxo sits in external storage (offline and airgapped) waiting to be uploaded into another wallet (I think u can upload all or part of the balance/stored utxo)

That’s prolly a pretty rough description but I’m technically retarded and it’s the best I got without reading up on it. šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ«”

That I’ve never doubtedšŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ«”

šŸ˜‚ saving this

We’re all retards now šŸ«‚

Tards ā€˜r’ us…making nostr stupider againšŸ˜‚šŸ«”

Maybe we ain’t smart

…and maybe we ain’t purty

…but dang if we ain’t funny…sumtimesšŸ˜³šŸ˜‚šŸø

That is what went into my pronoun field. I'll be upset if you dont address me this way. šŸ˜„

Where is this pronoun field? Are your pronouns re/tard?

I like it!!!

I will now nostrify as Sis/tard and tardx šŸ˜‚šŸ«”šŸø

Left tail bitcoiners need to embrace their inner ruh tard.

Bitcoin is technically a scam

Its just a scam to which no one single entity can control

Therefore, it is not a scamšŸš€

So proud of your bravery for coming out as super tard šŸ«‚

It’s who I am

It’s what I do🤣

In amethyst it shows up next to the user name.

Maybe re/tard would be better šŸ¤”

That or aw/tysm

A utxo isn’t ā€œuploaded onto themā€ exactly, it’s just a device that creates one single on-chain address and then reveals the private key when you break the thing

🫔thnx…so the entire utxo must be spent/transferred in a onetime use?

Should be yes. As soon as you break the thing you should sweep it into a wallet.

You CAN send multiple times to the same address and have more than one utxo on the same address, but that’s not gud 2 dew

I’m not sure if it’s possible to spend only part of the utxo tbh. But don’t do that if it is

šŸ‘šŸ½Thnx for the info my fren

You can send change back to the same address you’re spending from but you definitely should not do dat

When I first ventured into btc I thought they sounded pretty useful from a stand point of an airgapped way to store fractions of an overall stack with no watch only wallet trail to said btc…I’ve just never gotten around to using themšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

Still I suppose if the regulatory environment here in the states ever got bad enough it’s not a bad way to completely airgap ur sats/coins with no way to be doxed through an app/watch only wallet šŸ¤”ā€¦even though the utxo hx would still be on the blockchainšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

I have given a few as gifts. I imagine they’ll all end up that way or potentially buying something cash peer to peer at some point

Not sure what you mean by airgapping in this context šŸ¤”

I think he’s saying he doesn’t trust his softwares not to dox his xpub to the nodes it talks to for data, and saw open dimes as a solution

That’s why you gotta run your own node!

Was just about to say as far as the dox part, definitely wanna run a node if that concerns hue (and it should so you should)

I do but thinking about switching to a start 9 system

I do (run a node) but I still figure watch only solutions like sparrow or nunchuck (esp nunchuck if u use a phone app) are weak links to identifying/doxing utxo’s even if the private keys are stored off line…am I wrong on this?

Except for occasional utxo management I only transact with lightning and even then it’s primarily for orange pilling frenz (giving small amounts) and then to pay said frenz when I owe them for something like a meal if they prefer btc to cash (and they almost always do).
