Unreal. Why do Canadians put up with it?
Most Canadians don’t know or care about free speech. They will say something like : yes I agree with free speech but people shouldn’t be allowed to say things that are not true.

Very limited rights though, there's still an overwhelming incentive for overcompliance when it comes to censorship. Due diligence is expensive, there are fines for not removing things, but no fines for unjustly removing things - unless a judge decides otherwise.

The Bill of Rights is still in full effect in Canada. It is recognized as legal defense although the crown and courts will claim it isn't admissable and try to push defendants into the Charter. Don't be manipulated.
The BOR 1d guarantees freedom of speech.
As Mar's post shows, the Charter is NOT a document protecting rights and freedoms even though it's name sake would suggest otherwise.
The Charter contradicts the BOR 1b, as Quebec has not signed on, therefore the document can't be equally in force. (equality)
