No idea. I can understand business use case for profit motive - that’s about it.
Maybe it's like with sports teams. The team could absolutely suck, but their fans continue to support them and angrily defend them against any criticism. Meanwhile, they could easily find a better team to support, but they just stick with the one that sucks.
