Pieter Wuille's philosophy, as admitted by himself in comments made years ago, is that if users want to use Bitcoin as a storage, they will ultimately find a way to do so, and therefore it is foolish to put obstacles in their way.

Well then, if users/governments decide to destroy Bitcoin, they will find ways to do so, so let's not stand in their way.

That's not the mindset of a warrior, much less Satoshi's.

it's literally defeatism. you can't start from that premise and find a solution. to find a solution you have to be convinced one exists.

He'd probably add the nuance that he is totally open to effective ways to mitigate abuse, but that no one has presented them yet.

People are only offering fake solutions, narratives, and discontent.

Unfortunately the bitcoin community as a whole is going to have to branch off to other reference implementations to interact with the bitcoin network. Better late then never i suppose.

Bitcoin is not inevitable. We need to fight for it every day.
