I really thought badges were a cool little idea but the mania around them probably decreased their popularity. I still support it though!

They are fundamentally flawed. It can’t be just anyone issuing anything. They have to come from limited issuers and be broadly available to everyone.
Agreed. As it stands right now it's a free for all and I've seen some pretty crazy ones like 'proof of steak' which was funny, but ultimately a throw away.
