Personally, I store multiple months worth of water for me and my family at all times, just in case something happens or SHTF.

Do you store in something other than plastic? I’m slowly acquiring additional glass 5 gallon containers but they’re expensive and fragile so progress is slow. Would like to get to multiple months as well.
Plastic is cheap but bad for your health. Even if you store it correctly, you should still rotate them every 6-12 months.
Glass is safe, but won't protect water from light, and is heavier very fragile.
Metal(stainless steel) is the best because it's safe, durable and allows you to boil the water, but it's very expensive.
How do you store it? How often to dump and rotate?
For long-term mostly big plastic water containers, because they are cheap. You should avoid plastic if you can. Rotating every 6 months.
I have some glass jars too, but these are fragile and heavy. Water will last for ever on glass if it's stored properly and there's no light.
For everyday use i drink through stainless steel bottles, these are the best to store and drink, yet very expensive.
If you have a water source nearby you can always get water. It could be underground, a river, even the sea or the ocean. There are ways to purify it manually. It might be good to have some supplies, but it's also good to know where to look.
