When people don't trust their government, one of the best tools they have is to trust each other. If you trust neither your government nor your peers, then your battle is going to be all that much harder.

Being able to choose who to trust, and having tools to help you do that as efficiently and as minimally as possible, is almost as much of a superpower as not having to trust at all.

Some types of trust can be privacy-preserving. Some types of trust can be spread out over different groups of trust, so that the burden does not rest too heavily on any one person or group. Thanks to cryptography, we can break down trust to its smallest possible components, and assign them as deliberately and as minimally as we want, and to whom we want.

Anyway, on a completely unrelated note, have I mentioned how much I like Chaumian ecash?

nostr - web of trust

🎯

trust is faith

faith is absence of reason

trustless is the way, as bitcoin is

dont trust, verify

I hope this doesn’t come off as confrontational or inflammatory cuz it’s def not meant to be. I’m only responding cuz I think yall have both made good points.

Ur not wrong….but how lonely would life be without trust in anyone?…that would be like refusing to love cuz u could be hurt…Ima go the Garth Brooks path on this one…I choose not to miss “The Dance”

Where u and I likely have very common ground is I’m not gonna let other people decide who I should trust and not trust…that’s why people way smarter and likely more repressed/desparate than I will likely ever be felt so strongly about free speech (IMO) and why I hope nostr is everything we think/hope it’s gonna be.

Also I hope BTC allows us to keep store of value incorruptible…which would make the manipulation/evil that inevitably follows alchemy (in our current age fiat currency) in check…to the extent it can be kept in check🤔

Jus one idgit’s opinion🌅🌅

Well said, as always, Lyn. 🙏🏻

Send this note to Yuval, maybe? 🫢

Freedom of association, soup du jour. It's probably one of the most underrated aspects of freedom tech

"Trusting one another" requires some kind of social aptitude. Cointards don't have that that's why they're cointards.

Yes, more trust is needed

Self-sovereign individuals can ascribe the best of intentions to ppl who have no power over them

Because they have no power over them

It costs nothing

And has benefits

Self-sovereignty should be an expression of confidence

The conversation on X is

Ppl thinking that seeing psyops everywhere means that they are "uncontrollable"

In reality they are scared, isolated, divorced from reality and *completely controlled* by sociopaths

That is 95% of the description of a cult

The conversations on Nostr are mostly healthy

Only occasionally there are some pale echoes of the mass insanity on X

For me, trust is something that is always earned each day. I thank my horse for teaching me this.

where do i learn this ecash.

My issue with this is it conflates irl social trust with financial trust. Rarely do you give significant amounts of money to even close family (and when you do, the best, most trust preserving thing to do is to consider it gone).

💯

Not enough to change your zap wallet, it seems
