happy to read that! the man is also a great poet, I guess chatgpt would do a good job translating some of his poems. I actually dont understand why they hadnt been properly translated yet. but… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have a deep respect for translators & the art of translation since I benefit from their craft. I hope some of his poetry gets translated into English & more one day.
same here, it’s a whole new book, much respect. I know some shitty books, actually, that became masterpieces once translated, lol.
That’s why translation is so interesting. I enjoy reading about the writers (especially the poets) who become translators — they are encouraged to translate to understand language in a deeper way. I wish I could read both— the original & the translation. I’m really enjoying & learning a lot as I read Phenotypes— very relevant & important — both personally & for the world in general.

I’m in page 121 of my copy. 3 quick impressions (I already told you I’m hooked).
1– deeply love the dialogue between the characters. Therapeutic & educational.
2– there was a moment with a photo— when I teared up. Not sure if it’s the one you warned me about. If not— maybe foreshadowing.
3– Bárbara — really like her character as I get to know her at this point in the novel.
Taking a break from reading for now. The plan is to go out & fun tonight.
pretty well observed impressions. bárbara ends up being the central character after all.
and yes. if you teared up, that’s exactly the one. I almost teared up as well. a good punch in the stomach, I couldn't have any reaction at all.
