Spam
Fucking spammers and scammers
What scam is happening? It's a celebration day and advertises Gemini and Papa Johns.
Does not increase UTXO set.
They are using block space for cheap advertising, displacing hundreds if not thousands monetary transactions with non-standard op_returns, probably to troll node enforced policy rules. They might as well mine empty blocks and people will still find ridiculous reasons to justify their adversarial actions.
I should’ve added “cheap advertising that no node runner wanted, needed or agreed to store on his disk forever”.
I'm a node runner.
Based on the configuration settings I set for my node I'm agreeing to store the full block chain of data. I'm also relaying blocks to peers requesting them.
If you’ve configured your mempool to accept OP_RETURNs larger than 83 bytes and are relaying them to peers like Libre that normally request them, you’re effectively running a de facto Ethereum node. If you haven’t, then you haven’t opted into what MARA is doing — you’re simply following the consensus rules.
Still not seeing what the scam is.
This may be spam or waste of block space but it’s not a scam
Miner decides how to use their blockspace. Filters are another debate as well (should I help miners get these transactions or not)
Concur.
There is a subjective argument for spam. Either way, I'm storing it, and can prune if I want. Like spam in the mail, I can pile it up or put it in the trash.
Fuck #MARA
🤦🏼♂️
Spam. Run Knots.
