Then they have a misunderstanding of bitcoin, and will benefit from being in an environment where it’s just normal to use it and ask questions if they want, and it sense mixed signals when people who DO understand it pretend there’s some kind of problem with it. You can use nostr without bitcoin but you can’t use all of nostr without it. Eventually an exchange of money is needed for certain interactions online. Is there a money better suited for this task than bitcoin? It minimizes trust in 3rd parties, does not require permission, does not require identification of the individuals involved in the transaction, and can be sent instantly from anywhere in the world to anywhere else in the world. If you know this, and I believe of course that you fully understand this, then pretending people aren’t better off with it than without it is not helping anyone progress forward.

Taking emotions out of it, Zapping is like Holdem’ poker, money is being shuffled around but nothing new is being created. That alone is not going to lead to more adoptions. It will take some time for people to feel comfortable and start paying for stuff on Nostr.

Yes. NOSTR is independent of ₿ and LN. Zaps are just an optional feature and application of NOSTR protocols and some clients.
All of that said, NOSTR's LN support would be far better if BOLT12 Offers support were more widely available in wallets AND if NOSTR clients integrated it for zaps as well as other features.
I should be able to "subscribe" to any BOLT12/zaps enabled user (account, entity) by clicking on an offer in their profile.
This has been supported in Sphinx Chat for as long as I've used it.

For users ok with KYC that can be done once cash app rolls out Lightning addresses for users, the way Strike already has. You can already pay zaps using cashapp and strike with just a couple taps. But this only demonstrates the need for bitcoin because that wouldn’t be as simple to accomplish without it, as cashapp, strike, and Nostr are all plugged into the lightning network. And it makes it all easily interoperable and accessible to the other billions of people in the world who don’t have access to traditional digital banking apps.

There are already a lot of Venmo/PayPal/CashApp accounts
It would be easier to get them on nostr with something they already have then getting them to dive into bitcoin when onboarding to nostr.

There is nothing preventing someone from doing that now. It’s a step backwards. It reintroduces all the issues that people face with payments on existing social networks like X, and it does nothing to solve for the global nature of a network like Nostr where even at this stage there are people from all over the world interacting and transacting. Cashapp, PayPal, etc, don’t solve for that, and forget about micro transactions between those networks using legacy financial systems. You seem intent on being obtuse about things that are obvious. This thread is becoming a waste of time. Good luck with your experiment.
