I retired my 2017 MacBook Pro last Fall and replaced it with the 2022 M2 MacBook Air. It’s a great machine. Very happy with it.

It’s worth it. Been using m2 MPB. Battery life is amazing and heat/fan does not exist. While my 2019 intel, 20 tabs and a VS code, spins up like a jet engine.

And when it gets hot, the battery drains at 1% per minute

I have the same experience. It’s game changing for computing.

my 2015 is still going strong

TFW it ages out of being less than a decade old 😭

I could probably get more years out of it, but when I compare it to my other machines…

What's so important about apple care? I've never owned any apple stuff so I only have a vague idea what it is

It’s kinda a warranty on steroids. Covers accidental damage in addition to defect. Coverage is for two years. Since I bought my MacBook towards the end of the Intel run, it’s just a mark of age and moving towards obsolescence.

I’m pretty sure Apple isn’t spending as much time optimizing for the Intel arch anymore. I wouldn’t either. They’re on their third generation of ARM chips. Thus, things just aren’t snappy like they used to be.
