My Muay Thai video is now online for 24hours.

I made $200 via zaps on #nostr

I made $0.02 via YouTube

I’ll open source all the income from the different platforms.

This is an ultimate V4V test for me. If the algorithm on YouTube picks it up the earnings could outrun the zaps. Who do you think will win?

I’ll update you every once in a while and let the experiment run until the 01.01.2025

As stated in a couple of posts before this is the ultimate reason why a lot of creators are still on YT - the discoverability via their algorithms and reach.

I've been on Nostr for a little more than a week and I'd say I prefer V4v (never heard this on mainstream platforms), I can be my authentic self and it just seems to be more fitting.

YT and other platforms made me nervous online. But hey, to each there own eh.

Right now the algorithm will win. But using nostr to kickstart views on YouTube is a smart play.

Over time as Nostr usage increases this may change but for now you gotta follow the money.

YT is only really worth it in high CPM niches like finance/investing where advertisers pay more. For other things V4V could probably work better.

Btw, it seems that you might be "downgraded" in Youtube. They did the same thing to Jordan Peterson, when searching with the name you get suggested other things to search for:

At first I thought that ok, maybe that maC demarco guy is just more popular, but then I searched for "max demarco bitcoin" and YT is just offering "mac demarco bitcoin" as the thing to search.

It isn't a full shadow ban as you do show up in search results as expected (just not in those suggestions). I guess YT really doesn't want to be suggesting bitcoin content...

I finally got it right this time! Previously, I struggled to set it up on the web, but I had a much smoother experience with the Primals app.
