A lady was checking out with me at the shop today and was paying with cash. As she sorted through small change I could hear that it was distinctly not modern coinage. She paid me with silver coins from the fifties. The quarters are probably five bucks each. But the more interesting thing was that my mind immediately recognized the audible difference. Silver has a sound worth knowing.

Love that sound

The sound of real money 🤌

the difference between the spot value of those coins and the face value is a rough meashre amount of bullshit in the monetary system.

💯

The 1oz gold coin is worth multiple thousands of dollars, yet it only says $50 😂

right.

I had bought a bunch of silver coins in 2020 before I understood bitcoin. I sold them all recently but kept one.

Silver has a place in grid down. Quarters particularly.

I just sold some silver also but kept a sampling of the different coins from the 1880 to the 1971 40% and then the clas 1976 bicentennial to show kids how the money has been made worth less by government. I also keep a silver certificate 1 dollar bill in my wallet to show people what their money used to say.

The history of coinage is fascinating

I want people to take away that it is sad and scary how much others have taken from us and continue to take.

Silver coins’ sound instantly transports you to another era. Reminds me of the timeless allure when browsing a used yacht for sale (https://www.yachttrading.com/used-yachts-for-sale/)—old but gold.
