Knowing how many zaps someone has received could hurt content creators. For example, content creator gets 15k worth of zaps and an individual reads their content and likes it and is about to zap them and sees that they have already got a lot so doesn’t.

Then if it’s possible to turn it off, people may be like oh, they have it off cause they’re greedy and they probably already have a lot, so I won’t zap them.

What about being private for a 24hr period (or any other arbitrary amount of time) to allow for zaps to come in before going public? Just spitballing ideas.

Still, what about the person who views it after the arbitrary time has ended. Individuals will be less likely to zap if a post already has thousands of zaps and I may zap more not knowing what others have zapped.

V4V is based on the idea that the individual determines the value of the content without any influence from others or the creator. This is what it’s worth to me, and this is how much I will zap you.

Fair points!

Could work the other way as well. Mob effect could kick in and someone might be more likely to zap if they see others zapping it too. Don’t know though, would be interesting to see some blind tests on it.

Good point!
