The YouTube app has gotten horrendously shittier over the last year.
Sometimes I will open it and before searching anything there's a video playing that I didn't even select.

This has been working great for me for a while.
No auto-play (unless you choose a mix) after the video you watched. It's like you get to watch the video you wanted and then...that's it. Crazy idea.
Also love that I can paste in a yt link and it will take me right to the video.

Get pipepipe from the zap store. No ads way better.
Last time I used it I had a lot of videos that didn't play and would frequently have to use the browser or YouTube app to watch them. Maybe +50%
YouTube sometimes changes the way their backend works, and their is a lag for them to update pipepipe to work around it. I use it daily and haven't had issues in months FWIW.

Grayjay is good too. It's nice that it has multiple video plugins.

Watched some videos today and noticed that I need a premium subscription to play a video on 4x lol
I've been having success with:
YT premium to use playback speed is so broken now
Removed the app years ago, I mostly use grayjay and didn't feel the "need" to get the app for a second in the last 2 years 🙌
