How do we know? Maybe they have NPCs, injected with experimental gene therapies, mentally drunk on propaganda, eating ze bugs, monitoring net zero, and staggering through late stage fiat collapse as heavy as their local star.
For real. They already have the technology to make any pictures or videos taken off them be grainy and low resolution. How do they do that? Must be super advanced technology!
If they dont want to be seen, they will not be seen.
Even if they are seen, they can make sure nobody has memory of or or any evidence of them.
Im not presuming there are aliens, but one thing is for certain; if there are no aliens, then our evidence is correct. If there are aliens, they have been here all along and not necessarily on the actual planet.
