The spring and summer plan would be a single row of dwarf sugar snap peas followed by a row of green beans or cowpeas. Do you think that would be too much? I pruned the canes to about 2 ft tall, so they'll have at least some leaves above the annuals

The sugar snaps are fairly dinky right, won't grow too tall so should be fine. Not sure what a 'green bean' is to you, but for us that would mean 'runners' or 'french' and they would grow too vigorously for around the new canes.
Are you growing early or late raspberries?
Ah, yeah, around here everyone grows bush-type green beans, I think some folks call them string beans. They're what I'm planning to use. Seed is cheap, plants are bushy and shade the ground well
