Since apparently “knowingly” failing to add KYC to an open cryptocurrency protocol is illegal now, this is my formal proposal - let’s add KYC to bitcoin and lightning! Since it only happens if everyone in an international group of people agrees to it, I look forward to all Americans “knowingly” supporting this proposal and everyone else laughing and ignoring it.

They have the ability to coerce other countries to follow suite. Bitcoin would probably be protected by Russia alone.
At least that ability to coerce is dwindling.
You need to actually make a PR to core, merge and release for the State men to be satisfied. Trolling about it on social media will not keep you out of jail.

We can hope for state provided judicial systems to protect our rights, but must prepare for that not to be the case. Please developers, continue providing technological solutions for online anonymity/privacy. Thus protecting the freedom/right to exchange data (information/knowledge) and value (bitcoin).
