What 3D modeling tool do you frens use ? I tried fusion for 30min and already want to bite my nails off π€·πΌββοΈ #asknostr #3d

Did some stuff in blender. But I'm still a noob
blender, an ai can build stuff for you using blender python scripts
how does it do with new designs, or does it rely on precedent?
Can it read export a simple design right from my brain? Nothing fancy, only rectangles, some rounded corners, no moving parts. Can I just voice prompt an LLM with dimensions and voila ? Can I make a sketch on millimeter paper and feed it directly into printer ? π¨οΈ
(Sorry for letting my frustration out)
I usually get tired of trying to learn a new tool and just use OpenSCAD to actually get things done.
It is CAD for programmers.
Freecad
Speaking as an artist/artisan:
Rhino forever and ever when designing. Itβs versatile, affordable (especially if youβre a student), relatively intuitive, has a strong community, does freeform modeling very well, can produce manufacturing-ready models and is reasonably powerful for a whole spectrum of designer needsβand has grasshopper 3d embedded.
ZBrush for sculpting. Itβs incredible.
Cinema 4D for animation. Also incredible.
Each one of these is a deep rabbit hole into totally different communities and needs.
They also all play well together. Where Rhino is precision, ZBrush is intuition. And I bounce back and forth between them all day long.
I don't do 3D modeling but I have to recommend blender because I've seen absolutely awesome rendering techniques done with it and it's very widely used/supported
Blender is the OG
Blender
I have books I can share with you
I use Xenon by Ashlar Vellum.
I should have asked: which allows me to create a very simple device case (rectangles and some rounded corners) without having do deal with a clusterfuck of an interface?
Try onshape you can have the free version.
If you want to buy and not spend a lot I recommend alibre
I tried my hand at Blender.
I want to find a different one that's FLOSS.
Blender. I subdivide the surface, then enter the vertex edit mode (tab) and hitting the 'n' key to open a pane where you can input coordinates manually for precise modeling. Then export to .stl and opening in Cura, to define the filling, rims etc.
Blender is very loved
I've done 3D work for 16+ years now. πββοΈ
Blender is the wave. π€
