Tried #Session , #DeltaChat , #SimpleX , #Matrix , #Signal and #Threema.
Back to #XMPP.

It always comes back to XMPP!!
No matter how many different chat protocols I use it always comes back to xmpp. (Or IRC sometimes 😂)

I did try Keet for a few weeks but it didn't seem reliable, I was missing messages.
Does it work OK for you?
Because it opens a tunnel between you and your chat partners you have to both be online for messages to come through. Should sync the next time you are both online. There's no central server where the messages sit and wait in other words. Works great for me. Also a great way to send files securely between devices.

simplex - whatever @Jack promotess, be sure it doesn't care about your security or privacy. SimplexX is run by company registered in the UK funding by VC. Do you need bigger red flag?
