Wicked. We’re taking our family on a year long overland trip next year. Kids are 9,7,5, and 1.5. In the planning stages.

We have started the process of liquidating our lives and are considering either South America, or the South Pacific.
We plan on leaving at the end of November/December. First we have to figure out how we want to travel. Our current setup (4x4 with offroad trailer/rtt) has been awesome for weeks/months long trips here but probably not quite good enough for a year long trip. We are looking at other setups. We are a bit limited in our options, due to the size of our family.
We are also looking into costs of shipping vs. flying to places and buying there, insurance, etc. Costs, ease of liscensing/insurance will most likely determine our pick between the two, but once we have that figured we will start planning the "actual" trip. We usually don't really "plan", just have a general idea of where we want to go.
Early days, but emptying our lives of "stuff" over the past few weeks has been liberating 😃
