What exactly is money ? Bitcoin , Gold or USD ? ..
Depends on who you ask. The literal definition has conveniently changed over the years. Doesn't matter which you choose, there can be no free market with manipulated money. Any manipulated money. USD is manipulated by design...definitely not money.
So your definition is - Asset is money .. currency is not .. right ?

One key characteristic with money is that it should be a store of value over time. USD robs you of your value thus your time. Gold has an average inflation rate of 2-3%. ₿itcoins inflation rate trends to zero without the logistical issues of gold.
Okay .. now that we know money is assets - and USD is not .. why would you expect USD to hold value ? It is literally written on the bill that it is going to lose 2 percent ..in reality it is around 17 percent ..
Isn't comparing bitcoin to USD like comparing a cat to dog ?

Why would anyone want something to be "store of value" .. which literally says in BOLD letters that I am going to lose value year on year !
That is why you want to spend currency as soon as possible .. into consumption or into building assets .. that is the whole point ! You are paid in USD so that you can spend it asap ..
