#Amethyst v0.82.2: Markdown improvements

The last version created some issues for the preview of images and videos in Markdown content. This should fix all of them.

- Fixes the transition between short preview and full text on markdown

- Adds NIP-44 metatags to markdown rendering.

- Adds background video rendering on markdown

- Performance: Calculates the text width of a space outside a composable.

- Fixes the image preview with uppercase extensions.

Sorry if I ask. Possibilities of having Amethist on iOS?

I can help if somebody wants to refactor the code and take the lead on the iOS version, but I will not do it myself.

Here's why:

1. There are many good clients for iOS already. None of them is as good as Amethyst, but they don't need us.

2. Spending my time on iOS will take time away from Android, which my users will absolutely hate. It's akin to treason.

3. I believe iOS is incompatible with the decentralization goals of Nostr and people that trully care about decentralization should move away from it.

4. Vertical integration in the Android stack is what will make Amethyst a better app. The deeper we go, the better it gets. You can't go very deep when you abstract the operating system/hardware away. Besides, we are native. Web apps are better suited for a horizontal deployment.

5. If we trully want decentralization, it doesn't make much sense for a single project to try to take over in all platforms. Let other people focus on those platforms.

Anyway, My main goal is to create the best Nostr experience on an Android. Any time spent outside this goal is a distraction.

Hi again. I really need to use #Amethyst but it consume a lot of mobile data. It's like every time I use it, it reloads all the profile pictures, all the thumbnails, all the interactions, everything, like it doesn't store any cache and it re-downloads everything over and over again every time I use it. I use my phone a ton and I wish it spent less because I use it for a minute and it consumes like 30 MB or more. It's excessive. Do you think you can fix it for future versions please?

Actually the app does have a good cache these days and will only redownload if you kill the app from memory (swiping up in the apps view).

We are finishing a local database to keep many objects local but that will only help in these re-starts.

In the end, Amethyst is a huge app and will always do a lot. You might want to find an app that only has the features you want. For instance, you don't want the app to show any counters of replies, zaps, likes, etc as you scroll. Or if they do, it's just a rough number, instead of an accurate one.

You can always select to not load profile pictures (each profile picture can be 10MB alone) and other images/videos on the app settings. That should reduce the amount of data used. You can also use the FDroid version, since it doesn't download any translation model (~30MB each).

I kill apps everytime after I use them. Probably a bad habit.

Thank you Vitor. I love watching both #nostr and #amethyst keep getting stronger.
