Is it possible to use Tor with web sockets in Damus?

I have been told by Chinese that Tor doesnโt work in Chinaโฆ not sure if true #[4]โ ?
The CCP probably blocked all public nodes, but isnโt that exactly what bridges are for?
Tor canโt connect the bridge directly. You need to connect via a proxy server.
Now Iโm confused, arenโt bridges specifically designed as a secret proxy to get in to the Tor network that arenโt publicly listed? Why would you need to use a proxy server to connect to a bridge to finally connect to the Tor network?
