It is called common courtesy. One says chubby or something softer like that.
I find saying "do not eat that or you are gonna get fat" ok, but "there, next to the fat lady" not ok.
I think the same people would be very offended if you said “chubby” but maybe I am wrong

Well if they get offended by a child calling them chubby, then can GFT. That is as gentle as one can go I suppose.
What about a child calling another child “chubby” ?
