Wow! Thanks for the props y’all.

No problem man πŸ‘

Get your own bees, tanel. It's a worthwhile hobby.

would love to do so some day

nostr:npub1gsyvqrq7jdvvqkk3rklz6wsaft9cc2md6cuxun3a48s5hvrd7s4sgeqd9m add it to the list of that farm idea

My grandfather did it when I was a kid. My dad has all of his equipment but has yet to set it up. I'm tempted to get it all from him.

omg hahaha done βœ…

I’ve always heard the best honey is local honey? For health reasons, preventing sensitivity to allergens in your environment and stuff like that? 🀷

huh, interesting thought

had no idea

If you have seasonal allergies, eat local honey all winter. Important that it’s unfiltered so you are exposed to all the pollen.

But for fun, try honey from all over the world 😁

there is this: https://sweetsats.io/

don't recognise the weighing units, gonna need a converter

also would love some product photos, would make the site look way more legit

For quick reference 32oz is 1 litre

how much even is a litre of honey

uhh, brb

Raw honey?

what's the other option?

Pasteurized

educate me ser on the difference

i don't know what pasteurized really means, i've heard it a hundred times

and what does it mean in terms of honey

Heated to the point where microorganisms are killed, but not boiled.

sooo, is that a good or a bad thing?

Like anything it has tradeoffs. Longer shelf life, less likely to spoil. But it may also remove beneficial nutrients too.

but honey doesn’t really go bad, this is what I’ve been given to understand anyway

I think manufacturers heat honey mostly to keep it flowing for longer. Raw pure honey will crystallize in a month or less.

Raw is natural, just strained. Pasteurized or processed honey can have additives, they heat it up to kill bacteria but it also reduces the antioxidants and nutrients in natural honey. Pasteurization also "improves" the appearance and shelf life. For stores... Raw honey is the way to go. Many processed or pasteurized honeys have extra things added that you don't want or Artificial flavoring.

I pay $9 for half pint of raw from my neighbor who keeps bees on the roof.

that's so cool πŸ€—

speaking of honey maxis

Not only honey, my kids eat that more than we adults, but I'm into propolis lately. My go-to thing for any eczema and similar problems, older cub has fermented propolis as tiny treat every day.

Just realized I'm a bear

i don't think i know what that even is

It's next to honey, bees build honeycombs with this (and bee wax, which is different thing, but this is seriously not my area of knowledge). It's applied in mere drops as some tincture or eaten, my mum used it even for her inside nose, when she started losing smell during solid covid fever. She insists this thing saved her smellπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I wonder if it would help psoriasis?

Oh my, I wish I could help you with that. But I checked pictures and it actually looks like worse version of what my 4yo had on his butt recently. It spreaded quite quickly, rough to the touch and then started turning red. After few unsuccessful attempts with zinc creme and whatever, I started using propolis in alcohol, bought small flask not long before. He was unhappy, said it burns, although it looked dry with no open skin. It helped for that within two weeks. Try it, but that alcohol is savage on skin.

If you wanted I can buy it tomorrow, I'm currently next to the beekeeper I'm buying all this stuff from.

Thanks! I have a local honey provider I will go to though. It is worth investigation!

Good luck with that all! Also comes to mind just pure honey wrap, I've been recently advised to put that on heel inflammation (just hot in heel case).

Bees are the best.

Good maple syrup is awesome too

never had any maple syrup

🀯

Tanel, where on earth do you live? πŸ˜‚πŸ€—

it's 7:15 PM here, i'll tell you that much πŸ˜‚

it's not a thing here, i've always had pancakes with homemade jams that either my mum or either of grandmas make

I’m only teasing. πŸ«‚ Every place on earth has its own local treasures.

πŸ€— oh i consider it really funny, all the wonderful things that i've yet to experience πŸ«‚

The moon, I swear πŸπŸ˜‚

confirmed πŸ˜‚

I'm not sure if anything can top Toy Story 😁🀣

might watch today

You should start a weekly #tanelhasnt supper and a movie stream.

i would love to, i just can't afford the suppers πŸ’œ

I love maple syrup. It is thinner and maybe sweeter than honey. I also love sorghum syrup, which is thick as tar and just as black, and oh so delicious.

Is it just because of the taste? I recently heard honey might have great health benefits

oh honey

Wonderful, a good list to have. And all this time I just thought nostr:npub16eumpaxffppswucpeysysrya9uk39j06d5gr2tsnf6cupq3f4jdqyft6jc likes bees, didn’t realize was keeping bees 🐝 IRL, bravo!

and nostr:npub1sweetl0gskmka0n5qevt7v2wj9q56ntwkmaeywffw4ftaucmcakquhns6h nice mined npub! πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘

And a propolis infused honey seller, that’s gold. nostr:npub1tmtg0uuyn6l2uelwl4gu5d0u2ljkxpnl85f0s7wzggfdt4xvv95s8kmcx4 do you have a shop or market in VA or only online?
