Assumed it was Russian hackers then I tracked it down to an IP address from Colorado. The call is coming from inside the house, folks.
These new spammers are interesting. They're using content from real notes, but replicating them across dozens of impersonation profiles.
For example. Search for "Right. I bet. I’m 6’2” so no confidence problem there." And you'll see it posted by a couple dozen well known Nostriches.
The original note was from nostr:nprofile1qqsx86hvsxkqtu4yl5qhyltm395sqshnpnk3k6du76s9x0kpu8xll0spzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgqgdwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkcqgkwaehxw309aex2mrp0yh8qunfd4skctnwv46qv8td3g though.
Discussion
I know baiting them only makes them do it more, but for just scripts/spam, I don't mind. They're doing us a favor really, it's accelerationist at worst. These gentlemen truly care about the future of the Nostr network.
if it's just a simple IP address or IP range, then relay operators can easily thwart their efforts. they can just get a new subnet or new VPS, and it becomes a game of cat and mouse though.
It’s possible to determine a single IP address is the originating source of transmission?? Packets aren’t being forwarded?
All of em are from the same singular source?
Is it the same person that did ReplyGuy that pivoted to this?
Holy FS. Are y’all still talking about what I wrote?
