I haven't ran Umbrel in a couple years. Do they give you a choice or automatically install Core when you choose to add a Bitcoin node. What does MyNode do? What does RaspiBolt do? Thanks!

Yes, start9 changed the one the recommended and are “forcing” everyone to knots. You can still install core. It’s just a few more clicks. And it’s not part of their primary package
Would defaulting to none and give users a choice before installing anything be optimal? Yes. At least the choice exists. Maybe of these don't have a choice and default to one and only one "option".

they have clearly taken sides and it bothers me a little. Especially because they say we are just a home server.
i don't mind choosing a side as long as options exist. i view this as an advanced option. most people won't understand the difference anyways, but for those that do, giving them a choice is great.

all of that said, i think we're still very early in the debate and eventually users that do use these platforms will become vocal and demand these changes.
No apps are installed or upgraded by default. You choose what to install and when to upgrade.
