Modern day politics divide us. It's by design. It's perfectly fine and healthy to have a difference of opinions. This is how we grow and understand our fellow humans. You see modern day politics winning when people jump to personal attacks instead of having healthy debates and discussions. Saying "LOL you're wrong" helps absolutely no one and plays into their narrative. We're better than this. 🫂

Discussing politics with people used to be something I enjoyed from time to time. Now, I avoid it at all cost. Even with family.

And this changed years ago. We need the 90s back 🤷

Wonder what changed in the last 20 years

#nostr fixes the internet's original sin

💯

The healthiest conversations around politics that I've experience have been on #nostr. It's almost like there's real people here.

Much better than reddit.

Spitting pure facts my man. Race, vaccination, trans, anything they can use to keep us fighting. It keeps our attention away from everything they’re up to

very imp thing for many non christ nations: religion

Echoing in a way what nostr:npub14mcddvsjsflnhgw7vxykz0ndfqj0rq04v7cjq5nnc95ftld0pv3shcfrlx has been saying in some of his podcasts recently, we’re not even all from the same political systems, we’re doomed as soon as we start getting all tribal and divided about politics.

Embrace the chaos and variety of opinions. Isn’t that how humans advance?

What's especially broken is how actual opinions and personal politics are not binary. Not even close.

All of us are on scales and spectrums of opinions - but the system forces us into a handful, or less, of tribes.

Agreed. It's almost like it's now become a virtual requirement for every part of the election process to look more like a witch hunt so that we can have our required daily amount of recreational outrage and then go vote, if only to be able to vote AGAINST something rather than FOR a candidate we'd actually like to see elected.

i know many things; things that modern people could never know.

that's how i be came who i be

Being on #nostr for me, personally, is to be out of my element and comfort zone politically. What keeps me coming back is Bitcoin/Zaps, and the overwhelming sense of community. I get more engagement on bluesky and Twitter, but the perspectives and different opinions on here are invaluable to me.

Absolutely.

Yes, some people need reminding of this!

You’re wrong!

Just kidding
