There are trees in Tasmania called Huon Pines. These things are also massive and some 2000 yrs old. When the British colonized the place they cut them down like no other to build boats as the wood does not rot. Thankfully we still have them and are protected
Daintree Rainforest in Queensland in Australia has the oldest rainforest in the world 🌎
Id love to check it out! I’ve been to Queensland, but I don’t think I had a chance to go to the rainforest. Though I did swim the Great Barrier Reef and check out sand dunes on Fraser island
I’m not far from Fraser Island, next time check out the rainforest 🫡
So many beautiful places in the world, never enough time.
Go to say not having a like is doing my head in. For me it’s about politeness. If someone takes the effort to respond to my ramble I want to acknowledge that person as a mark of respect. I don’t always have time or cash to zap.
Why not just a short comment or emoji?
Emoji??? That’s just like the like button then! 😂
Except, you have to chose it, and it’s personal!
Same same
It is the same. I’ve been commenting way more and threw in a few reposts where I would have just liked before 🤷♂️last week I was on the other side of the fence.
Reposts and comments! Woo!
If you like it, but don’t have time to comment or zap, repost it! Show it to others!
My thoughts too.
Nothing worse than seeing my feed full of reposts…😉
I don’t find it too bad. It stays in the posts and replies feed which I don’t use that much?
I just reposted. I was going to repost it like 10 times but it only allows one repost. Bugger
Oh good one!
Why is that a bad thing? I’ve seen amazing things or learned new things from outside my network that way!
If it’s just a conversation like this, maybe not the best solution haha(BEVO) but if it’s a post like mine, it could help show the photo to more people!
I like reposts. It often catches me up on stuff I’ve missed.
Yes I do too. I wouldn’t like them if they were in my main feed though. I like that they’re in the posts and replies. Some clients don’t do that.
That’s a good point. Not all clients are the same.
Damus they come up in my main feed
Really? In posts? I use Damus and they only show up in posts and replies?
Oh shit you are right. I was in that.
😂🤣😂
Quotes are in post feed, which I like.
Yah I wish quite and repost weren’t under the same icon tbh
What do you mean by quotes
When you press the repost button it gives you two options, quote and repost. The quote puts the note in a note you are publishing and then you can type above it.
Oh they made it so the long press isn’t needed, nice.
Yep
It’s nice if you wanna add some flavor to something you like, “check this out” in a way or make a comment about the post
It’s going to be cool to see what happens as a result. I don’t think zaps are going to replace likes but comments and reposts could, which will help one grow their network and be exposed to more people and gain more exposure to other people to follow.
Exactly what I was saying in the nest today! Everything moves so fast here I’m trying to keep up so cannot always comment. Plus don’t want to exclude those that don’t have enough stats.
No acknowledgment needed sir!
The algos have demanded our clicks for too long! Humans won’t get mad.
Yep I understand that. It was just my way of being respectful.
🤙🏻
They cut these down too. Tables, houses, chairs. Luckily this old growth forest was saved.
While these trees are quite old, the oldest living things in the world live farther south, but also in California.
Ancient Bristlecone Pines live in a desert. Twisted and mangled, they aren’t giants like these massive Redwoods, rather unassuming, they’re over 5000 years old.
Some individual living beings in this world have existed long enough to experience multiple human civilizations come and go.
If you like trees, this is a great book:
