Why unfortunate?
Why unfortunate. You need both custodial and non-custodial solutions for people who want to use Lightning. We educate them on pros and cons and let them decide what works in their own situation. It is a good thing we have various options available.
I'm under no illusions that doing LN 'properly' isn't easy, and everyone will take the easy first steps. Sadly there's many seasoned bitcoiners all too comfortable using and promoting custodial solutions.

I use both custodial and own node. Haven’t had a failed payment in months
yeah i also got nearly 0 failed payments.
but there are a lot of failed HTLC's on my list.
very often insuficent fee which could be rebalancing attempts by others.
i dont rebalancing is very practical.
i am a fan of fee adjustment and maxHTLC setting!
I run my own node liquidity and likewise, I haven’t had a payment fail this entire year so far! Used to happen quite often…
The higher the bitcoin price go, the more value lightning network will be able to handle, without any change really. That's magic.

Better everyday! I still have no onchain balance, for a pleb like me with no income and only a few satoshis, without Lightning get Bitcoin and use it would be impossible.

The layering protocol work here is the fact! Lightning fast with the L2, secure and robuste with L1. ⚡️🔐

Still not my experience unfortunately 🙁 I’ve had a surprising number of problems trying to make LN payments from both BllueWallet and CoinCorner recently. When it works it’s amazing, but it’s still not as reliable as I’d hoped. Encouraging to hear others are having such good reliability though 👍
