I love seeing bitcoiners go against the raspberry pi node thing

Who, where, why?

What’s that about?

Well, it’s really not reliable hardware to run a node on compared to an old laptop or an Intel NUC.

I personally think there are better machines to use for nodes while you could use an rpi for some other cool projects.

Here’s a good podcast on an opinion on it.

Thanks a lot been looking into it lately I have many PCs and desktops no Rpi was going to wait until I could buy one I’ll look at other options

I like doing things vanilla so I compiled and run my own node and same with lnd on a older mini desktop with decent ram and a secured chassis for the hard drive.

I think umbrel can run as a package but I haven’t tried.

I have laptops and desktops they run windows do you have a step by step I could follow I have tried a few times I’m more hardware my wife is software

Listen to the podcast first if you have time. He doesn’t just say why raspberry pis aren’t ideal but lays out what people could do.

You can use that as your basis for how you want to set up your node.

At its most basic you can download Bitcoin core from the website and run it on windows.

Take it step by step.

Sweet thanks so much

You can install umbrel on ubuntu. I think curl -L https://umbrel.sh | bash

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good

I've had zero issues with 2 pis that have been running for nearly 2 and 4 years.

To each their own.

Pi’s are are great intro or personal node, nothing wrong with that. Just when you want to get into serious routing you’ll want something beefier

What should we use?
