I'm in New York State and trying to get some #bitcoin on the #lightning network.

I've tried multiple ways to do this but every way ends in the provider not being able to do this in NY State (on the up and up). I gave up.

I've recently been talking with people interested in #bitcoin and wanted to just send them some on the lightning network to keep them interested but keep hitting walls.

Does anyone have ideas on how to do this? This is the most frustrating thing.

So lightning wallets are not working in new york 🤔 😕???? Download Phoenix wallet a non custodial lightning network wallet

I will try the Phoenix wallet. I have Wallet of Satoshi and Alby and recieved sats on there from nostr posts.

The problem is converting from bitcoin to the lightning network.

Places you can buy crypto need to have a special license from the State. Coinbase has one, but I can't transfer to lightning from there.

Moonpay isn't licensed in the state.

Cashapp I can't do it either.

I got tired of trying but will look at Phoenix. Thanks for your suggestion!

Phoenix wallet might be your answer any questions when you do Download don't hesitate to message me or get on one of my notes im always available on here 😉 🤙🏾

Thanks! I'll figure this out and #zap you some sats when I do!

I don't even live in NY but near by and often get errors on some apps that I cant do want I want as a NY resident - must be due to connecting to NY cell towers

Thanks. It's so crazy in my mind how I can't do it.

The state says they need to protect the consumer. Meanwhile there are 12 yr old kids stealing peoples cars, drive them through the school yard, get caught, and get let right back out of jail.

Anyway... I digress...

https://boltz.exchange/ is excellent for exchanging on-chain BTC for LN BTC.

Thanks! It worked!

Hi brother, I’m a Christian as well. I’m not super knowledgeable about it, but I work in the IT field so I can do some research and probably figure it out for you. Any information you could give me that might be helpful, or research you’ve already done you can fill me in on?

This might be over simplifying it but….. did you try a VPN? That’s how I got past registering my identification with the feds, just VPNed to Canada and BSed credentials.

I ended up using a website to transfer BTC to the Lightning network... it worked great. The site is on this thread somewhere.

I think NY State has special rules about exchanges to purchase crypto. I was trying to use the exchanges but the exchanges that can handle crypto in NY don't do Lightning.

NY claims to want to protect the consumer.... I guess they forgot about their lotto machines.
