Love those peepers

How often do you get new chicks?

Every 3 years, but these are a broody breed, so hopefully this will be the last chicks for a while, I will switch out the rooster though. I donโ€™t want any inbreeding

Pretty cool. And how often do you have to switch the rooster?

It probably will be good to do it every year. I know some people who keep chickens and we will rooster swap.

Right. If not the rooster mates with his kids if you keep him too long?

๐Ÿ˜‚ you might be able to get away with it once but in my estimation it is no, no.

So the female he mates with the first year (not his kid), that only works once?

Iโ€™m no expert but I think you run into problems when you fuck your kids ๐Ÿ˜‚

I know breeders do this from time to time but ๐Ÿ˜•

of course inbreeding bad ๐Ÿคฃ

I was wondering about the first chick he mates with, since sheโ€™s not his kid

Oh that is fine. he can have at all six of the new ones. But not his kids.

I understand. Must be fun to see them grow

They grow quick, probably will be getting eggs from them in July or August

4-5 months wow

Now I have to cull a few that arenโ€™t laying much and make soup or feed to the dogs.

Same.
